BANGOR – The top Maine harness racers will be racing for a $60,000 purse Friday night at the annual Sire Stakes.
The race features two-year old horses across four different classes.
These horses are bred specifically for harness racing. Racers say preparation for the event has been a long rigorous process, especially for the horses.
“You start in like September you break them and get them gated and make sure they’re good enough to race. A lot of them don’t make it because they’re still young and undeveloped but it was a long road to get here and hopefully tomorrow’s its a good night,” racer Heath Campbell said.
Race time is set for 7 p.m.
