ORONO – Maine men’s basketball head coach Bob Walsh was candid when asked about his teams performance after their 84-63 victory against Husson on Saturday.
Walsh was happy with the heart the team showed, considering a roster overhaul, but acknowledged that the offense took a step back.
The Black Bears were disorganized on in their offensive sets and as a result were unable to establish any flow.
Walsh credited the Eagles’ effort on defense, but he nonetheless thought the Black Bears regressed.
Maine has implemented a new offense this year and has run it well in practice, but not so much in their first game action.
“You know we had 39 possessions in the first half but we only ran our offense six times in 39 possessions, which is mind boggling because of what we’ve done in practice every day,” Walsh said.
