ORONO – After a preseason wakeup call against Stonehill, Maine women’s basketball is hungry to start the regular season Friday against Tulane.
Head coach Amy Vachon says the team has much improved effort in their practices, something that lacked in the 68-49 loss to the Skyhawks.
The Black Bears enter the regular season with several newcomers and many returners stepping into new roles.
While expectations are high for a team that has made two straight trips to the America East title game, Vachon says the team has a long way to go.
“Yea of course its opening weekend so if we’re where we want to be right now then we might be in trouble. I think our biggest thing transition defense for us really needs to get better, work on that,” Vachon said.
Tip-off for Friday is set for 6 p.m.
