HERMON – Hampden boys basketball is primed to make a run at a Gold Ball this season.
The Broncos return all their key players from last season’s team that saw an early exit in the playoffs.
In their first action of the preseason Saturday against Cheverus, the Broncos showed signs of being a legit contender in Class A.
The Broncos staved off a late game comeback from the Stags to win 67-63.
You know I really thought fatigue was a big factor today, we’re not in good shape yet. It was the second day of the game, their first. So I think consequently fatigue caused a few turnovers and I though we were a little soft with the ball. Fixable problems as we go down the road,” Hampden head coach Russ Bartlett said.
