ORONO – The new season began with a win for Maine women’s basketball and once again it was a familiar face who lead the way for the Black Bears, Blanca Millan.
She’s been doing it all season for the Black Bears, Millan scored 20 points and added seven rebounds in Maine’s 64-56 win over Stony Brook.
The sophomore forward is averaging 17 points per game and shooting an impressive 48.5 percent from the field.
The Black Bears came into the season lacking a go to night-in-night out scorer.
In year two Millan has certainly established herself as that player the Black bears needed.
“Right now I know my role, last year I was a freshman so I was like I knew I could do things. But I was not sure how I was supposed to do them. I keep working as hard as I did last year but now I know I can do much more things,” Millan said.
