BANGOR/VESTAL, New York – It’s been a rough go for Maine men’s basketball this season.
The Black Bears entered their Saturday afternoon matchup with Binghamton at 3-13 and looking for their first America East win.
They got that and much more. Ilker Er registered his best game of the year as he poured in 23 points in Maine’s 76-73 win over the Bearcats.
Maine closed the game on a 29-18.
While the Maine men were celebrating their big win the women were battling Binghamton in overtime at the Cross Insurance Center.
The Black Bears just couldn’t get anything going on offense down the stretch as they fell to the Bearcats 66-62 in overtime.
Maine was outscored 18-12 in the fourth quarter and 7-3 in OT.
