BANGOR – Nobody needed the new year more than Maine men’s basketball.
The team has quickly forgotten its 3-12 first half start and has begun 2018 on a high note.
A hard fought loss to Stony Brook and a comeback win over Binghamton has bred confidence during the infancy of America East play for Maine.
At the center of the Black Bears play has been guard Aaron Calixte.
The red shirt junior and Co-America East Player of the Week exploded in the second half of Saturdays 76-73 win over Binghamton scoring 15 points.
The black bears top offensive weapon is averaging 15 points per game this year.
He attributes his heightened level of play to his work during the offseason.
“You know just staying in the gym working on every part of my game, my jump shot, free throw shooting, my ball handling, watching film. Its just good to see my hard work, that everything is paying off. I’m excited to see what the new season holds for us,” Calixte said.
