ORONO – On the heels of a 1-1 weekend against Merrimack College, two Maine men’s hockey players earned high honors.
Maine freshman goalie Jeremy Swayman was named one of 16 semifinalists for the Walter Brown Award, given to the top American-born hockey play in New England. Swayman has had a breakout year in Orono, and is considered to be one of the top young goaltenders in college hockey.
Meanwhile, junior Brendan Robbins earned his first career hat trick in Maine’s 4-3 win over Merrimack in overtime Friday night, and it also earned him a Hockey East honor. Robbins was named the conference’s Co-Player of the Week, the first time he has done so this season.
