BANGOR – Husson women’s lacrosse has been stuck in the middle of the NAC for quite some time. The Eagles are hoping some new leadership this season can catapult it to the top of the conference.
The NAC preseason poll has Husson at fifth place heading into the season. Just like most teams, the Eagles and their new head coach, Dorian Gilmartin, aren’t paying attention to it.
Gilmartin comes in with experience at the highest level of college lacrosse as she played at UConn and also spent time as an assistant coach at Drew University in New Jersey. Gilmartin is bringing a confident swagger and new system to a program looking to finally make some noise in the NAC.
“Our motto this year has been ‘one team, one heartbeat’ we all gotta be in sync we all have to be on the same page. Some of the offenses and some of the defenses we’ve put in have been way more team oriented as opposed to get the ball to number five and we’re just going to go,” Gilmartin said.
