GORHAM – One of southern Maine’s top basketball stars has committed to one of the staples of college basketball.
Gorham center Mackenzie Holmes will play hoops at Indiana University, starting in the fall of 2019.
“The culture that’s built around basketball is just great,” Holmes said Wednesday. “You know that if you’re an Indiana basketball player, you’re going to be walking to campus and people are going to be knowing who you are. And I think that’s one of the most special things about that, everyone cares about basketball and loves it there.”
Holmes has led Gorham to two AA state titles in the past three years, and averaged more than 21 points per game this past season.
