ORONO – One of the best men’s basketball players in University of Maine history is returning to the squad to help revitalize the program.
Bangor Christian athletic director and boys basketball head coach Kevin Reed is set to join new Maine men’s basketball coach Richard Barron’s coaching staff as an assistant coach, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. The news was first reported by Jeff Solari of the “Sports Chowdah.”
Reed will return to a school where he dominated offensively, scoring 1,601 points en route to paving a path to a professional career in Europe. The source noted Reed’s strong ties to international recruits played a role in him landing the new position.
Barron’s full staff is set to be announced in the coming weeks.
