AUSTIN, Texas – With less than 24 hours before tip-off, the University of Maine women’s basketball team had its first run through at the Frank Erwin Center Friday. Now, the Black Bears look to slay the beast.
The No. 15 Maine squad will look to take down an incredibly physical No. 2 Texas team Saturday night, and it will be at a height disadvantage. With Maine’s bigs topping out at just more than six-feet, the Black Bears will have to bring the intensity to a much larger Texas team.
“We know they are really athletic team,” guard Blanca Millan said. “We just focus on our game plan and try, like, to run our things so we can stay with them. Work really, really hard, that’s it.”
“Just go out there with a game plan, work really hard,” her teammate Tanesha Sutton said in agreement. “A lot of teams during the non-conference had a lot of height advantage and stuff over us, but we still went out there and worked hard.”
Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. ET Saturday.
