ORONO – After receiving permission to speak with other teams earlier this offseason, Maine men’s basketball guard Danny Evans is officially leaving the program.
Multiple sources close to the program first indicated to ABC 7 and Fox 22 Evans has committed to play for Division II Saint Anselm College. The news was later confirmed by head coach Richard Barron, who noted it he was happy for him and said it would be a good fit for the guard. Evans averaged 13.5 minutes per game in his second season in Orono last year, to go along with 3.7 points per contest. He scored a season-high 11 points in the team’s opener against Boston College.
Evans came to UMaine from Phillips Academy in Massachusetts, but originally hails from Leeds, England. Evans’ departure will open up another scholarship roster spot for Barron.
