ORONO – Believe it or not, Maine softball is in the home stretch of the season and questions certainly still remain. Not as much about one area in particular though.
Pitching has been a strong suit for the most part for a Black Bears team that is building its rotation, it was honored today.
Senior Annie Kennedy was named America East Pitcher of the Week, while freshman Kyleigh O’Donnell earned rookie of the week honors for what they did this past weekend against Sacred Heart.
Maine swept the Pioneers, not allowing a run all weekend. And the Black Bears recognize it is that pitching that could take it deep into the postseason.
“I always say just control what you can control so what I’ve been doing is just trying to keep us in games. So I mean as a staff we haven’t given up many runs which has really helped us a lot staying in games,” Kennedy said.
