HERMON – Speedway 95 is revving up for its opening weekend. Racing fans can expect the same high octane action at the track this season, but with an different glow to it.
Speedway owner Del Merritt has installed brand new LED lights around the track, ones that replaced nearly 50 year old lights.
Merritt says the lights won’t be used this weekend, but will be put to use shortly after. The LED’s are a much needed renovation that Merritt hopes will eliminate some lingering issues.
“We had some problems with them last year, grounds was going and different things was going. So we decided we’d upgrade to the led and hopefully we’d get some of the cost out of the energy bill,” Merritt said.
