OTTAWA, Ontario – The Ottawa Redblacks have quietly become the Maine Black Bears’ Canadian Football League unofficial affiliate, and that trend continued Monday.
The Redblacks announced the signing of Maine football offensive lineman John Reddington Monday. The four-year start now joins defensive back Sherrod Baltimore and quarterback Dan Collins on the Ottawa roster, two of his former Maine football teammates. Altogether, Maine now has six players representing the program in the CFL.
Reddington started all but four games over the course of his career for Maine, and head coach Joe Harasymiak praised his personality and work ethic as a major reason for him getting signed.
“Their character, their work ethic is why he’s getting this opportunity,” Harasymiak said Monday. “And I think if he makes it in the door and gets to stay, that will be a chance for him to prove what he can do.”
