CASCO – With two NCAA championships in the long jump in her pocket, Casco-native Kate Hall has her eyes on a bigger prize.
Hall is forgoing her senior season at the University of Georgia in order to prepare for the 2019 World Championships, and eventually, the 2020 Olympics. She will return to Maine to focus in on her training, while she simultaneously deals with Type 1 Diabetes and Celiac Disease.
She ultimately said the time commitment collegiate athletics required would be too much while trying to focus on bigger endeavors.
“It’s just hard to compete in the collegiate season and then try to pursue anything outside of that,” Hall said Monday. “So right now, I want my focus to be on making world teams and making Olympic teams, and I think the season is too long to do that.
