STATEWIDE – With the cancellation of the senior softball All-Star games Thursday due to weather, Miss Maine Softball 2018 was announced Wednesday night. This year, the winner comes out of the South region.
Scarborough’s Chloe Griffin was named the top senior softball player in the state, beating out six other candidates for the honor. Griffin helped take the Red Storm to consecutive Class A state titles in her final two years in red and white, and went a perfect 14-0 with 92 strikeouts during her senior campaign.
Griffin will play Division II softball at Southern New Hampshire University next year.
Old Town’s McKenna Smith was the lone North representative of those eligible for the award. Prior to Griffin’s win, the past two honorees had come out of Hermon High School.
