HERMON – It has become an annual tradition for Hermon, and it will continue this coming weekend.
The Hawks girls basketball team will host its annual two-day tournament at Hermon High School, open to the public. A fair share of talent will be on display across the two days of basketball, with Class B state champion Winslow, MDI, Brewer, Hampden Academy, Ellsworth, Houlton, Freeport and Bangor joining Hermon in on the fun.
The inclusion of Freeport, one of the top Southern Maine schools, provides a change in the pallet that could pay dividends down the line for some of those competing.
“It’s kind of neat to play teams that you don’t normally see, but maybe the off chance that one of the B teams gets to face them in the states, it’s kind of neat to see them get an early crack at them,” Hermon head coach Chris Cameron said Monday.
Games will kick off at 9 a.m. Saturday, with the last game tipping off at approximately 5:40 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the Hermon girls basketball program.
