BANGOR – The North Atlantic Conference is going to look drastically different next year. Colby-Sawyer, New England College and Castleton are all out, while UMaine Presque Isle is in.
All the shuffling has effected postseason baseball. The number of teams is still not great enough to earn the NAC winner an automatic NCAA Tournament berth.
Lucky for Husson and the other schools, the NAC has joined forces with the City University of New York Athletic Conference. Starting next season conference tournament winners from both leagues will meet up for a three game series.
The winner will advance to the NCAA Tournament, a sigh of relief for the Eagles.
“Its exciting you know we always want to compete for a championship, but sometimes if you stop with a championship and don’t have an opportunity to move on beyond that its a little disappointing,” Husson baseball head coach Jason Harvey said.
