PORTLAND – The Maine Mariners are just over a week from their first game of the season. The East Coast Hockey League newbies have high aspirations for 2018-2019.
Fast and exciting to watch are the words head coach Riley Armstrong used to characterize what he wants his team to be all about.
The team is comprised of players from all over the world including a couple players from “Vacationland.” Former Biddeford and University of New England star Trevor Fleurent and former Brunswick goaltender Brian Billett are competing to make the final roster.
For Fleurent, being able to play pro hockey in his backyard is something special.
“Its been great obviously a lot of support already, just myself personally and everyone else I’m looking forward to hockey being back in Portland and some support obviously going to be there all year long,” Fleurent said.
