BANGOR – Last year Bangor boys basketball forward Matt Fleming heard interest from several schools, but had no official Division I offers. A year later, he’s put pen to paper as he has signed his national letter of intent to play for Army West Point.
At the beginning of last season Fleming said Army was his top choice, but no official offer had been made. The tall and athletic sharp shooter should fit into Army’s up-tempo style of play.
The military aspect was a big draw for Fleming, but what also attracted him to the school was a distant Maine connection that has now planted his roots down in at West Point.
“Zak Boisvert who went from Maine to Army always had my name in the back of his head. So when he finally reached out everything clicked and really worked out,” Fleming said.
