ORONO – The Pride of Maine marching band traveled to an away playoff football game for the first time in its history last Friday in Utah.
The trip was made possible by an anonymous donor who came forward after the band’s performance in the first round game against Jacksonville State.
After each win the football team is known to run to the far sideline to sing the school’s fight song the “Stein Song,” a tradition the band is thankful for.
Members of the Black Bear football team said having their band at the game against Weber State was “a party” and “felt like a real college environment.”
Noel Lienert,a junior drum major, say the trip really hit home for him “when [he] saw the [Rocky] Mountains.”
All parties involved were incredibly grateful for the anonymous donor, and the opportunity to travel to the FCS quarterfinal game.
