ORONO – Santa came a little early for Maine football wide receiver Andre Miller.
Head coach Joe Harasymiak surprised Miller with a full scholarship earlier Tuesday. Distance wise, Miller’s road to Orono was short, but it’s been anything but that.
Miller was academically ineligible to enroll at UMaine his freshman year. A quick stop at Husson and two years later he’s back in Orono.
The former Old Town Coyote had himself a career day in Maine’s loss to Eastern Washington catching nine passes for 129 yards and a touchdown.
Harasymiak knew Miller’s talent would shine once he was finally able to get onto the field.
“Yea I mean we knew “Dre” was special he just had to really just understand the play book and what’s going on. He’s an immense talent and now that he you know has gotten a game under his belt on the national stage I mean nothing is going to be too big for him he’s going to be great,” Harasymiak said.
