HERMON – It’s been an unusual winter it Maine. A brutally cold November, followed by a mild December. Now the cold is back and no one is happier than the Penobscot Snowmobile Club.
The season has been on hold due to low snow levels. Byron Ogden, the club’s trail chair committee, says the club’s trails need at least 6-8 more inches of snow for the season to really kick off.
Ogden is optimistic the weather will turn, but also added that the mild winter has hurt business so far.
“With the snow we can recover our expenses without the snow we can’t recover our expenses. A club of this size just about $3,000 just for insurances for the building and the properties and the machines and stuff. It’s important,” Ogden said.
