ORONO – The injury bug never bit Maine women’s basketball last year, it’s certainly lashed out this year. Fanny Wadling missed significant time this year with a concussion while Parise Rossignol and Tanesha Sutton have also missed time. Despite those injuries Maine’s stayed afloat.
Sutton missed the fourth quarter of Maine’s loss to Hartford last week and also sat out the teams win over Stony Brook on Saturday. While the Black Bears wish everyone was healthy it has opened the door for other players to showcase their abilities, such as Maeve Carroll and Kira Barra amongst others.
Sutton is the latest Black Bear to hit the shelf, but the team is optimistic on her long term outlook.
“Injuries are tough but they’re part of the game you know we were really fortunate last year not to really have any so this year’s kind of got us. Fortunate I don’t really think its anything to serious with Tanesha I think she’ll be back sooner than later,” head coach Amy Vachon said.
