ROCKLAND – Cole Anderson capped off his second straight Maine Amateur win with a final round 6-under 65 to win by six strokes at Biddeford-Saco Country Club.
Anderson, who just finished up his first year at Florida State, started slow shooting even par on the first day, but never looked back once Day 2 started as he shot a combined 10-under over the final two days of competition.
“It’s a thrill,” Anderson said. “Winning any golf tournament is a serious rush and to win my state amateur to do it once was special enough but to be able to repeat was huge,” he added.
While excited, Anderson is now shifting his focus to his future. As COVID-19 presents an uncertain future, Anderson is hoping to, at the very least, ride the momentum gained from the win.
“For me right now, I’m shifting focus to our college season or what. There’s still some uncertainty obviously with the conferences right now and how everyone is going to go about this season,” he said.
