HAMPDEN – Bangor boys basketball couldn’t miss in their 80-54 rout of Hampden at Red Barry Gymnasium Tuesday night.
The Rams buried the Broncos early and often jumping out to a 50-26 lead at the half. Henry Westrich led all scorers with 27 points, while Andrew Szwez finished with 23 points. Bryce Lausier finished with 26 for the Broncos.
The Hampden girls led through the entire second half, but Bangor was able to close the Broncos lead to three points with just under six minutes left to play. The Broncos held on to beat the Rams 53-41.
Head coach Nick Winchester honored his graduating seniors by calling a timeout with less than a minute remaining in the game, and gesturing for the crowd to give them a standing ovation.
