SHIRLEY – Dove Tail Bats has already established itself as one of premier baseball bat companies in the world, in 2020 it will be taking another big step.
“We’re starting a 10,000 square foot expansion on a new billet mill. In that portion we’re going to have a full length tunnel where guys can come up and test bats they can demo bats and then they can order from what they are testing,” Dove Tail Bats owner, Paul Lancisi, said.
In past years, Lancisi has had players test bats at the University of Maine’s baseball facilities, which is 67 miles away.
The in-house facility offers convenience and more.
“Anybody north of Charleston can come up get in a cage, use HitTrax or something that gives them analytics on what they’re actually doing with their swing,” Lancisi said.
Lancisi hopes the addition will completed and ready to go by July.
The future continues to shine bright for the small business, despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
The company is considered an essential business and can remain open. Lancisi said he’s currently employing a “skeleton” crew consisting of only a few workers and the coronavirus hasn’t halted production and distribution.
“We have a presence in Arizona and in Florida now where they’re still going to play ball this summer the kids are going to get out there and make up the season that they’re missing. So we will be making our retail orders, we’re still getting online orders which is great,” Lancisi said.
