BRUNSWICK/ORONO – More leagues amended tournaments and high profile games Tuesday due to concern over the coronavirus.
The Ivy League has canceled its postseason basketball tournament. While, there are still no confirmed cases of coronavirus in Maine, colleges and universities are still monitoring the virus and taking precautions ahead of high-profile tournaments this weekend.
Bowdoin has announced it will not be allowing fans at its NCAA women’s basketball tournament games this weekend.
Only credentialed game operations personnel and administrative staff will be permitted. The college reached the decision after monitoring recent developments with COVID-19 in the New England region and consulting with both on and off-campus medical providers.
The games will be streamed on the Northeast Network and on WCME radio (99.5 FM/900 AM).
The University of Maine plans to move forward as it normally would with this weekend’s men’s Hockey East quarterfinal series against UConn.
The school added that it would have an update if anything were to change, the first game of the three game series is Friday at 7 p.m.
