BREWER – National signing day has a bit of a different feel this year. Brewer High School held a virtual signing day for three athletes Thursday.
Josh Birch has signed a national letter of intent to play golf at Husson, Birch finished ninth at states this year.
Kenzie Dore signed her NLI to continue her softball career at Husson after winning two state championships in 2018 and 2019.
Brewer pole vaulter, Maddy Gibbs, will continue her track and field career at the University of Southern Maine after helping lead Brewer to an outdoor and indoor track and field state title in 2019 and an indoor state title in 2020.
“It’s a dream come true honestly it’s been just what I’ve been looking for and to all year long so I’m really excited to keep going and fall ball can’t start soon enough,” Dore said.
“The past three state championships kind of make up for the fact that we can’t have another season because they’ve been so special,” Gibbs said.
“Even though we didn’t get to do it in person it was a lot of fun doing it over this but I’m really looking forward to moving on to Husson and hopefully continuing my career over there,” Birch said.
