MANCHESTER – Ruby Haylock had the Maine women’s amateur championship in her grasp leading by four strokes with three holes left.
But, never count out a defending champ as 2018 champ, Bailey Plourde, rallied to tie the 15-year-old Haylock at 4-over-par and force a playoff.
Haylock was able to bear down and chip in for birdie on the first playoff hole and secure the title.
“I’m going to be honest with you I walked up to that chip and I wasn’t really processing anything. I walked down the fairway thinking wow I need some chap stick, it was great,” Haylock said.
