GLENBURN – It was a bit of a windy day outside, good enough to sign a national letter of intent from a driveway though.
In today’s world, Bryce Lausier will take it. The Hampden Academy senior is officially a St. Anselm Hawk. The Mr. Maine Basketball winner and Gatorade player of the year was joined by his family and coaches in front of his house Thursday afternoon.
It was a small crowd of course, but Lausier is thankful he was able to share the moment with them.
“Means a lot to have, you know, a bunch of people in my corner supporting me through everything and you know through my basketball journey and academic journey to be able to attend a school like St. Anselm is awesome and I’m happy that I’ve had so many people help me along the way,” Lausier said.
Among those in attendance was Lausier’s coach, Russ Bartlett, the Broncos head coach said he felt like Lausier was under-recruited at the start, but knew his hard work on and off the court would pay off.
“I’ve been fortunate to coach a lot of really good players, but my impact on them is minimal if they’re driven they’re driven and he’s been driven on his own and that’s why he’s where he’s at. It’s more of we get to ride along them than they ride along with us,” Bartlett said.
