BANGOR – Allegations of misconduct and inappropriate behavior surrounding the company have led to a closure of an independent wrestling promotion.
Independent Wrestling Entertainment owner John Bryer announced on Facebook Friday that the company will be ceasing operations due to a number of allegations against Bryer, as well as former wrestlers and staff.
Bryer bought the company in 2016, and said in the post that he did not plan to harm anyone. In the post, Bryer also apologized to alleged victims and their families for the trauma of the alleged actions.
The closure of the promotion comes as allegations of a similar nature about individuals across the professional wrestling industry have spread on social media using “#SpeakingOut.”
