NATIONWIDE – Both Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship and Bellator featured Maine natives on their first live fight cards since their temporary hiatus due to COVID-19.
Chris “Golden Gloves” Sarro, out of Ellsworth, made his second appearance for Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship on Friday for its BKFC 11 card in Oxford, Mississippi.
Sarro was positioned to fight four other opponents in the lead up to his fight Friday night. He landed on journeyman Victor Jones. Sarro knocked Jones down with about 20 seconds left in round one. Jones either mistimed the count or chose not to get up in time, and Sarro was awarded the knockout, moving to 2-0 in the promotion.
Meanwhile at the Mohegan Sun in Connecticut, Ras Hylton, out of South Portland, made his Bellator debut on just three days notice after Steve Mowry tested positive for COVID-19. Hylton stepped in the cage with Rudy Schaffroth in the opening match of the Bellator 242 preliminary card.
Neither fighter had gone the distance in their professional careers, before Friday night. Hylton won on unanimous decision, 29-28, after three rounds.
