ORONO – Training camp is officially over for Maine football, Wednesday night it celebrated with its annual “Meet the Black Bears” event.
Rain forced the event inside, but that didn’t stop fans from coming out. Black Bear players and coaches ran local youth football players through drills and some showed off their dance moves during touchdown celebrations.
For current Black Bear players, “Meet the Black Bears” is a way to give back and reminisce.
“It kind of brings you back to when you started playing the game you know just having fun just enjoying being out here. You know just playing football catching throwing that’s kind of the roots,” quarterback, Chris Ferguson, said.
“When you get to college it’s a lot of x’s and o’s you know a lot of things on the board so once you get passed that and just look at having fun it kind of brings you back,” Ferguson added.
