ORONO – Amy Vachon’s mood after Maine women’s basketball’s quarterfinal win over Vermont on Wednesday foreshadowed the prognosis the team later received for guard Anna Kahelin’s knee.
The team confirmed Kahelin will be out for the remainder of the season with a knee injury.
Kahelin suffered the injury in the final minute of the Black Bears win over the Catamounts.
Maine will likely see increased minutes from guard, Kelly Fogarty. The injury is another in what has been a brutal season health wise for the Black Bears.
The Black Bears only have seven healthy players and have lost Blanca Millan, Fanny Wadling, Sierra Tapley, Abbe Laurence, and Alex Bolozova for the season.
Maine will host UMass Lowell Sunday at 1 p.m. at “The Pit” in the America East semifinals.
