ORONO – Maine women’s hockey’s Hockey East quarterfinal rematch with Boston University features a rematch of the “Maine Miracle” from 2018.
Maine pulled off a comeback for the ages as Brooke Stacey scored a natural hat trick in the final 10 minutes of the third period of Game 3 of their quarterfinal matchup to send the game to overtime.
Tereza Vanisova eventually scored the game-winner to send the Black Bears to the semifinals. Head coach Richard Reichenbach is relying on players who’ve played in that game to remind younger players that anything can happen come playoff time.
“I think it’s good for them to talk to the underclassmen about the last time we were in the playoffs and how that went and the experiences we had and like you said that being said half our team is new they don’t know about that series they didn’t experience it they only know what we’ve done the last year or two,” Reichenbach said.
