ORONO – Saturday is the biggest day of the year to date for Maine women’s hockey, a border battle against rival UNH and it will host its Skating Strides game on Saturday.
The Black Bears will wear pink breast cancer awareness jerseys to raise awareness for breast cancer fundraising.
Maine will be auctioning off six pink jerseys with all the proceeds going towards Northern Light Cancer Care at Eastern Maine Medical Center.
It’s an event the Black Bears say they highlight every year.
“Anytime that we can give back to the community is huge for us we love it we love it whether it be community service or donating money like this our jersey’s are sick this year absolutely incredible my favorite one’s yet so we’re really excited to put those on have an auction after and raise some money,” captain, Jillian Flynn, said.
