BANGOR – The Maine Principal’s Association held a meeting Monday to go over eight-man football and its makeup for next season.
Right now there are five confirmed school’s going eight-man next year: Dirigo, Camden Hills, Spruce Mountain. Morse and MDI.
According to the MPA, there could be up to 14 teams playing eight-man next year and as a result there could be two championships, a large and small school title game.
If that were to happen Class D would become a statewide league like Class A. Teams have until Feb. 8 to decide if they want to play eight-man, the football classification committee meets on March 9.
