MILFORD – Today was supposed to be the home opener for for Orono tennis. It was a beautiful, sunny day, probably the nicest of the year so far.
The school and team didn’t let it go to waste. Athletic director, Mike Archer, and members of the girls and boys tennis team surprised head coach, Matt Murray at his house with a plaque commemorating his 100th win.
Murray earned his 100th win during the playoffs last season. The school was going to present Murray with the plaque this season, but with it canceled due to COVID-19 it decided to get creative.
“It sparks a lot of the good memories and then more than anything it makes me miss it. It makes me wish we were opening up today and getting ready to play a match it’s sad we’re not but it’s nice to have these little moments to remind you why you do it,” Murray said.
