ORONO – Montigo Moss officially committed to UMaine at the open of the February signing period on Wednesday.
Montigo is the son of Hall of Fame wide receiver Randy Moss, and brother of LSU receiver and NFL Draft prospect Thaddeus Moss.
Despite the perceived advantages that would come with carrying the “Moss” name, Montigo only shared about one offer on his Twitter profile, and that was offer was from Maine.
Moss spent a prep year at Fork Union Military Academy in Virginia, after graduating from South Mecklenberg High School in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Despite the hype stemming from his last name, Maine head coach Nick Charlton say Montigo is focused on making his own name. “We know the pipeline that he comes from, but he just wants to talk about his career, his future, and what he’s doing here, he’s a very humble kid, he’s going to come here and work very hard, the expectation is very high for him.”
