ORONO – After the America East conference originally suspended all spring sporting events until April 3, officials later decided to outright cancel all practices and games.
University of Maine Director of Athletics, Ken Ralph, said the school oringnally suspended spring sports until at least April 3. This decision affects baseball, softball, and outdoor track and field.
The baseball team was scheduled to play the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and Towson in Baltimore this weekend, while softball was set to play Elon, Bucknell and North Carolina Central in North Carolina.
No decision on the football team’s spring game has been made.
Ralph also added many spring sports athletes are choosing to stay on campus in general as a precautionary measure.
