WISCASSET – Maine race tracks have been give the green light to re-open, but officials at Wiscasset Speedway have decided to stay closed at least for now.
Speedway officials choose to remain closed as no fans will be allowed in the stands. Officials hope Maine will follow New Hampshire race tracks which are allowing 50% fan capacity.. Track promoter and announcer Ken Minott said the track submitted a proposal to the state two weeks ago including criteria similar to that of New Hampshire tracks.
Minott hopes the change will be made for the track’s fans, “family and friends of the drivers and family and friends of the people here are Wiscasset Speedway. From our point of view it wouldn’t feel right without doing it without them.”
