BANGOR – It’s a delicious way to join in the battle against Alzheimer’s disease.
Dysart’s Restaurant is once again offering a limited edition pie to help raise money to fight the illness.
The “Purple Berry Pie” is made with fresh Maine blueberries and is topped with a crumb crust.
Mary Dysart-Hartt decided it would be a great way to raise money after her family was also touched by the disease.
Dysart-Hartt stated “We want to raise awareness because of Mike and we’ve also been through this with my mother, so we have that double whammy. For a long while we both were caring from my mother and then Mike was involved in it as well.”
“The Purple Berry Pies” can be purchased at Dysart’s for $20 dollars and $15 dollars from each pie will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association to fund research and other programs.
You can also join the “Walk to End Alzheimer’s” which will be held October 21 in Bangor.
Hundreds are expected to take part in this years walk, knowing the disease is expected to get much worse in the years ahead.
