BANGOR – It’s a chance to buy locally grown produce while supporting Maine farmers at the same time.
Bangor Green Drinks will be hosting a CSA Fair this Sunday.
Crop sharing has become more popular in recent years as more people are paying attention to how their food is produced. This gives people a chance to buy a portion of this year’s crop ahead of time.
It also helps the farmers with upfront cash to run their farms and lets them know they already have a buyer for the food they produced.
Greg Edwards from Bangor Greendrinks said “You can find out what you want for food during the year. Not all CSA shares are the same. You may want more carrots and fewer greens. And you can talk to them about how and where they grow it. What fits best for your food needs.”VO
The CSA Fair will give people a chance to meet people from more than a dozen local farms, to learn about the program and to buy shares in this years growing season.
There will also be live music, samples of local produce and a market basket raffle for anyone who buys a CSA share.
It will all take place this Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Seadog conference room on the Bangor Waterfront.
