PITTSTON- It happened Saturday night at the boarding house at 1135 East Pittston road. A dispute between a landlord and a tenant turning ugly.”
“Obviously something went terribly wrong inside this home in Pittston,” said Steve McCausland, spokesman for the Maine State Police.
Police say 51 year-old Dale Clifford, the owner of the home, died of a stab wound to the chest in an ambulance heading towards Maine General in Augusta- this happening after a confrontation with a tenant.
“Our task now is to try to determine why this happened, and we’re doing that with a variety of methods. We’re interviewing with everyone involved, we’re consulting with the medical examiners office, but there will be a lot of work that remains before we come up with some final answers,” said McCausland.
The cause of the dispute- still unclear…but police say others were home at the time of the incident.
“A lot of the specifics, at this point, we are not getting into publicly, because we are still trying to firm up what exactly happened and the sequence of events,” said McCausland.
State police are consulting with the attorney generals office about the case. So far, no charges have been made.
