YORK – The thousands of vacationers headed out of Maine are getting a special send off from Miles the Moose and “Clawdette” the Native Maine Lobster.
The pair thanked tourists at the York Toll handing out Farmers’ Almanacs to people caught in traffic
They hope this shows appreciation to vacationers and maybe convinces them to come back soon.
“This is kind of the unofficial end of summer so we like to say goodbye and thank them for coming. On the farmers’ almanac we say thank you for visiting, hope to see you next year.” Courtney “Clawdett”, Maine Turnpike Authority
Maine turnpike workers say they wait for traffic to already be backed up before doing this that way they don’t cause more delays.
