BANGOR – Downtown Bangor will be revisiting its history as an iconic hotel starts a new chapter.
The Charles Inn will soon be under new ownership, as of next Monday Leeanne and Allan Hewey are taking over! And they have big plans for the hotel, with an eye on the Queen City’s rich history.
After working with the Travel Channels reality show “Hotel Impossible”, themes including Hannibal Hamlin, VP to Abraham Lincoln as well as a Stephen King inspired room are in consideration
“In the Stephen Kings suite were thinking of….. The different things hes donated to the Bangor community and people” Leeanne Hewey, Owner
Although King’s publisher has not approved the naming of this suite, the Hewey’s are hoping to move forward with other ideas for rooms that will tell a variety of stories.
“We’ll have a Brady Gang room………. Each one will project a piece of history of the Bangor area” Allan Hewey, Owner
In addition to the unique rooms, the Heweys hope to bring the community into the inn. One idea is to have a “25 Days of Christmas”, where they will host readings of Christmas books, as well as a place where children can write letters to Santa. They hope that local restaurants will get involved with the changes by providing room service to hotel guests.
“They can come out and enjoy downtown Bangor, or not even leave their rooms and get the cuisine that is available down here” Leeanne Hewey, Owner
The Heweys hope that with these changes, guests of the hotel will be able to feel the history that Bangor has to offer.
“Tell us about the history of this building so we can create what the people want, not necessarily what we think it should be” Leeanne Hewey, Owner
