BANGOR – Momma Bear and her three children, 11 year old Spicy Guy and 5 year old twins, Strong Man and Little Butt hiked the entire Appalachian Trail. Luckily these names are only there trail names that they used over the last year.
The journey started last summer in Georgia where the family hiked three ten mile days and decided continued to Harpers Ferry where they turned around due to timing constraints, but Lisa Murray, or Momma Bear couldn’t keep her cubs off the trail.
When asking Momma Bear how her young children kept up, she exclaimed how excited they were, with the kids taking charge most of the trail.
After hiking the Appalachians, our local Katahdin proved to be the hardest part for the Murrays who are originally from Florida, and had to accommodate for the cold weather.
Along the way, the children learned some very valuable lessons in the outdoors, and learned to appreciate the little things in life.
The family is already planning their next summer vacation, and hope to hike more trails in the next years to come.
